Leanne’s Biography
Leanne was born Leanne Louise Grose on the 5th February 1981, the first child of Gail and Kevin Grose at Treliske hospital in Truro, Cornwall.
During her childhood Leanne enjoyed running, netball, spending time with family and friends and throwing herself into every activity.
During her teenage years Leanne got her first car, first boyfriend and first job working for local government and loved every second of life, she was determined life would be a journey even from a young age, she just never realised the severity of the journey and where events would take her.
On 13th September 2001 Leanne was taken into hospital where they found a tumour in her left foot. The tumour was removed and she had 3 months of radiotherapy and treatment, however due to severe pain and a very determined tumour returning on 17th November 2002 Leanne’s left leg below the knee was amputated.
Leanne was fine with this and has always had the attitude 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger’!
Time passed and unfortunately because there was so much damage to the stump and the tumour had returned, on 6th September 2004 they had to remove the rest of her leg (above knee).
Leanne is a strong independent person who is passionate about life, an individual who does not believe this disability will hold her back.
She has a zest for life and loves being around people, she enjoys ‘making like a sponge and taking in everything’
Leanne has a strong and fun personality and these things together have got her through tough times.
Her last amputation was in May 2006 in London, she then finished 5 weeks of radiotherapy.
Leanne believes things happen for a reason and she’s not a wannabe, she’s a somebody and she wants to get out there and be huge, helping others and ridding this country of a taboo. You can be young, sexy and feminine even if you are different, it simply makes you special !
She is working tirelessly and is making a success in this business and is willing to do whatever it takes – She wants to be the first woman to walk down the red carpet on one leg and crutches !!!
